Interesting. Think it'll be a good app for our JRSC cars??

That sounds NICE. . . any idea on price? It looks like an bottle of oxygen that flows through (but not into) the intake tube. Where would you go to refill O2?

Hmmm. Interesting idea. essentially it's a small heat exchanger in the intake. Unfortunately you won't see the great gains that a NA car would because all of the heating occurs after the compressor. There will be a SLIGHT advantage because you are cooling the incoming ambiant air but the best location for any type of intercooler is AFTER the charger.

Now adapt a system like that to a JRSC intake manifold and you'll have my attention

Actually, have you ever datalogged the coolant temp and intake temp under the same cold weather? The coolant temp barely reaches 175 degress even during boost, especially at high speed. Therefore, the heat transfer to the intake manifold from the cylinder head is very minimum. The intake temp is also very low as well, and the temp increase during boost is slower. However, when the outside temp is hot and coolant temp reaches above 196-200 degrees (when fan turns on), the intake manifold can get heat soaked very easily. A little cooler air from the intake would help a little to slow down the temp climb, but cooling the air after the hot blower would be more effective.

Let's say for a moment that this can do what it says, cool the intake charge. How much of an intake RESTRICTION do you think it poses?? It's one thing to cool the air down, but if it's like a cap on our intakes, then that's a baaad thing.

Anyone have any idea on price? Anyone have any more details?

    Both 3" and 2.5" kits are $149.95.

Yes. But the Co2 bottle and hardware kit is $350. $150 is only the bulb for the intake.

Additionally, DEI (I called them) says that the system will run liquid Co2 to cool the bulb down to something like -80. The bulb represents approximately 3-4% decrease in airflow. And yes, they have tried dyno-ing this product on several cars, including a turbo civic, which reports gains b/w 12-15hp and a "supercharged hatch" that gained 16 hp. Now, this is just word of mouth, but I thought u all should know.

Actually I have to disagree. Ever boosted a JRSC in 20 degree weather with a CAI? The manifold stays cool to the touch, vs. say 80 degree summer weather. The lower you can get the intake temps before the blower, the lower they are going to be aft of the blower. That's one of the reasons a small shot of nitrous works so well as an intercooler for the JRSC.

How much does a Co2 bottle run?

(I assume they'd use about the same size as a nitrous bottle)

Mounting a bulb or two inside the blower manifold shouldn't be too hard! What do you think about that?
